It’s often said that the eyes are the “window to the soul.” At Katzen, we believe that they’re your window to the rest of the world. Your eyes should never keep you from living your life. That’s why we offer general eye care experience.

Eye Health

You use your eyes to experience life daily…that’s why our mission is to assess and preserve them. With our annual eye exams, our doctors diligently examine your vision capabilities and recommend steps to improve eye health and durability.

Life Without Limitations

Helping you achieve the vision and appearance is a multi-faceted journey, and we’d never limit how far you can aspire. Our various surgical and optical services are in place to help you live life boldly.

A Note to Patients with Astigmatism

If there’s a single question we receive most frequently at our Concierge Center, it’s this: “Can I still experience the life-changing benefits of corrective eye surgery if I have an astigmatism”? In a word, yes.

An astigmatism is a condition in which the curvature of your cornea becomes misshapen or “deflated.” While this condition should be treated, it does not disqualify you as a candidate for the vision correction procedures offered at Katzen Eye Group.

What are the risks of skipping periodic eye examinations?

Periodic examinations are an important part of routine preventive eye care. Many ocular conditions present no obvious symptoms. Therefore, individuals are often unaware that a problem exists. Early diagnosis and treatment are important for maintaining optimal vision and, when possible, preventing permanent vision loss.

The recommended frequency of general eye examinations varies with age, race, medical history, family history, occupation, and other factors. Individuals with ocular signs or symptoms require prompt examination. In addition, certain risk factors may necessitate more frequent evaluations.

A family history of eye disease is one of the most common risk factors. However, Americans with a family history of eye disease are less likely to get screened regularly. Ethnicity is another important risk factor for eye disease, yet groups at high risk for Glaucoma, such as African Americans and Hispanics, are not often aware of their risks.

The American Diabetes Association also recommends that diabetic patients see an eye care professional yearly for a dilated eye exam. High blood sugar levels can lead to damaged blood vessels in the retina, the layer of nerve tissue at the back of the eye, known as Diabetic Retinopathy. Early diagnosis and treatment can prevent vision loss, and it’s important to maintain good blood sugar control.

What makes Katzen’s technology superior to the other practices?

The computerized Vision Testing System delivers the most accurate optical prescriptions, allowing for additional tests and quickly comparing new prescriptions to old prescriptions.

Each exam room is equipped with 3-D animated educational software to educate our patients more effectively. Additionally, Katzen Eye Group is recognized nationally as a premier practice for electronic medical records. This highly advanced system lets doctors have patients’ medical records at their fingertips. Few offices in the country offer this type of sophisticated technology.

At Katzen Eye Group, we must provide our patients with the most advanced technology and care, including the latest in optic nerve analysis, multifocal intraocular lenses, and premium refractive procedures such as LASIK.

As a patient, you should know your risk factors. Please contact us today to schedule a comprehensive eye exam.
