Dr. Joe Navaleza joined Katzen Eye Group in 2011 as a general ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He also treats patients with complex eye disorders such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.
An American board certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Navaleza received a BA in English literature from the University of Michigan and studied French and Art History at New York University in Paris, France. He received his medical degree from University of Michigan Medical School. Immediately following his schooling, Dr. Navaleza moved to Philadelphia where he completed his internship at the Albert Einstein Medical Center and his ophthalmology residency at the Wills Eye Hospital.
For five years, Dr. Navaleza worked at Parris-Castoro Eye and Laser Center in Bel Air as a general ophthalmologist and refractive surgeon. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His work on anesthesia for cataract surgery appeared in Ophthalmology Clinics of North America.
